The best kind of rain, of course, is a cozy rain.
-- Susan Allen Toth, England For All Seasons
I don't know about you, but I love the rain. Of course, no one likes having to trudge into work in the rain -- however, what is better than a lazy day at home watching the rain fall through the window? Today's Friday Fave is rain (maybe an odd choice, but I do love it!).
Even though it is a workday, and I prefer rainy days to fall on the weekends (optimal relaxation time, ha!), I cannot wait to get home and begin rainy-day related activities!
Read a Magazine or a Short Book -- I love reading, but it always falls by the wayside in my routine. I used to read a book every week or so and I most definitely do not anymore. Rainy days are great to go through a magazine you bought, or to read a shorter novel (Nicholas Sparks, chick lit, etc.). I like reading shorter books in a day or so, and rainy days give me that opportunity.
Organize & Re-Fold Your Dresser -- I feel lame adding this to the list, but there is nothing I love more than organizing. Every now and again, usually on a rainy day, I take the time to pull everything out of my drawers, give them a good fluffing and re-fold them. I also love to go through other storage items and get rid of things I no longer need.
Take a Nap -- If there is one thing I miss about college, I miss the naps that I always could find a justification for. The best naps, in my opinion, are rainy-day naps. I love cuddling up under a throw and snoozing for an hour or two.
Drink an Excessive Amount of Tea -- I love tea, especially Tazo Refresh, Trader Joe's Green Cranberry, and Yogi Kava Stress Relief (you can find this at Whole Foods).
Have Soup in an Oversized Mug -- Campbell's chicken noodle soup with an entire sleeve of Saltines is a guilty pleasure, and I only allow myself to have it when I am sick or when it is raining. I also love tomato soup with a grilled cheese, & especially love lentil soup.
Watch an Entire Season of an Old TV Show You Used to Love -- The O.C., Laguna Beach, Friends, Dawson's Creek... pick your poison.
Call Someone You've Been Meaning to Catch Up With -- Your grandmother, a friend from high school, or anyone else you miss talking to regularly. I love when I can call an old friend who I have not spoken to in awhile and I have so much to tell them, and they have so much to tell me! Everyone's busy, and it is difficult to keep in touch with everyone you care about as much as you'd like, and rainy days give you the opportunity to do so.
Is it raining where you are today? What do you like to do when it rains?
