Melania Wedges.

I have received countless e-mails from readers asking about the Kate Spade 'Melania' wedges I posted about in last week's Friday's Fancies, which made me uber excited that you all enjoy them as much as I do! A lot of items on Polyvore are no longer available, so I was worried that I wouldn't ever be able to find them for you. Anyway, I went on a little online shopping excursion this afternoon and found them on Zappos (aka, it was extremely easy to find these, haha).

The best discovery of all, however (get excited..), was that they also come in this amazing other color -- both images, via

The red "flame" Melanias are equally to-die-for as the blue pair, in my opinion. Which do you all like better? Any shoe lover needs a pair of these (or both?) in their closet.

P.S. How amazing is the spade addition to KS's logo? I think it is super cute & I love that she added it!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving ... These Jessica Simpson wedges on ideeli's 'spring essentials' sale. I think they are absolutely adorable, and you cannot beat the price ($49). via

Originally, I wanted these Stuart Weitzman "Alex" espadrilles (below, $365) so badly. The Jessica Simpson wedges are almost identical to these, and I actually think I might like the JS pair better than the SW pair! Sadly, ideeli's site wasn't allowing me to enter my credit card number, so I think these babies might slip through my hands. I e-mailed them & am hoping that they get back to me in time!

via

I'm Loving ... that I got a mani last night w. AB. I got a super bright red OPI color, but I can't remember which! Still, obsessed!

I'm Loving ... that I have absolutely no plans this weekend & I can catch up on all of my to-do's!

I'm Loving ... that I have some new followers! Thank you for reading, commenting, following, etc. (this, of course, goes for all of my followers, old & new)!

I'm Loving ... Bloomie's Friends and Family discount! Use the code "SPRINGFF" at the checkout to receive 20% off. I ordered a pair of Sam Edelman sandals & new TB Reva flats (to add to my collection, haha! I can't stop). I also think I am going to order my mom this Kate Spade bag as a birthday gift..what do you guys think!?

Congratulations are in Order...

I would like to congratulate my bestie, ES, on getting her dream job today! In addition to being smart, gorgeous, and fun, she's also a super talented artist and will be a huge asset to her new place of employment!

ES & I met when I was in 8th grade and she was in 7th. I was friends with her brother and would creepily stalk her after French class because I thought she was cool and would wear really funky things that she looked amazing in (duh). She's always maintained that she felt special because I would talk to her and I was a year ahead (8th graders are the epitome of cool), but I think that's just her being nice. Anyway. I wish I had a picture of us back in the day handy that I could show you all. Who knew that an awkward hallway stalking in middle school would turn into such a great friendship?

So anyways, I am digressing from the actual point of this post. Congrats, ES, I am so thrilled for you!

P.S. A Happy Belated Birthday to CB, who turned 24 yesterday!

P.P.S. My apologies that I have been bad about posting lately, I have been a busy bee but I promise that I will make more time :) xo

Spring is in the Air Challenge Day 4

Day 4
Spring Product Recommendations

Hi lovelies, sorry I have been posting uber late the past week or so. Work / boxing / life has been kicking my ass. Anyway, so excited to share my spring product recommendations with you!
Here goes...

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer with SPF 15
-- I use a different moisturizer for fall/winter than I do for spring/summer. So, I will be putting my Ultra Facial Cream away and begin using the moisturizer from the same line. I am a die-hard Kiehl's fan, and their cream keeps my skin soft during the winter, but my skin isn't super dry in the warmer weather, so I like having a lightweight moisturizer with SPF to use. I have been using this for years and love it.

OPI
in Big Hair...Big Nails -- and other bright lacquers, too! I am dying to try a Shellac, but I am definitely an OPI girl at heart. I am all about the magentas, corals, and deep pinks for spring!

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer -- Every girl should have a tinted moisturizer. It is the perfect product to use daily that won't clog your pores and will give you the right amount of coverage. I wear it a lot when I don't feel like putting on a ton of makeup. I don't use a lot anyway, but when I am in a rush, LM's tinted moisturizer is my springtime go-to. Helpful tip -- once it becomes warmer (and for you southern gals where it is already warm), I put my moisturizer in the fridge. It is not as runny and applies more evenly.

Blum Naturals Towelettes -- I am very particular about what products I use because my skin is really sensitive. I don't break out really, but it will get a little splotchy. This is especially true when I travel and sleep on hotel sheets and use different towels. It's a pain! I am going to start bringing my own pillowcase when I go places. Anyway, I digress. I love these Blum Naturals towelettes. I currently use the ones that are Pro Age with grape seed extract. It is so important to keep your face clean when you are working on your fitness, so I keep these in my bag and wipe my face off before (to remove my makeup, besides mascara), and after my workouts. I am dying to try more of their products!
Water -- This is perhaps the most important "beauty product" of all. I have always been big on staying hydrated and drinking a lot of water throughout the day. It makes me feel really good and it so good for your complexion and skin. It makes pores appear smaller, can help get rid of blackheads, and detoxifies. Amazing. If you don't love drinking water, you can always cut a wedge of grapefruit in it, or drink sparkling water (I'm obsessed.).

Goodnight!

Spring is in the Air Challenge - Day III

Day Three of the Blog Challenge. Having so much fun linking up with A & M. Without further adieu, today's question --

Ideally, where would I be headed on spring break this year?

I would love to go to Turks and Caicos. T&C is made up for 40 different islands, but most people visit Providenciales, which is one of the more well-known islands (and, JetBlue flies there now!), as well as Grand Turk, which has a lot of Carribean history. The beaches are absolutely gorgeous. And I just looked at the March weather online, and it is mid-high eighties in T&C. So ideal.

I would stay here, at the Grace Bay Club. The amenities look phenomenal. It just looks incredibly relaxing.

Maybe this trip, which by the way, I want to plan for October (I am terrible at planning trips/saving), will help me get rid of my fear of being in the ocean. I am a crazy B about shark attacks, I refuse to go in past my hips. I even hate going into water where sharks don't live because I am convinced they could get in there somehow. Pathetic, right? I know.

What is your ideal warm vacation spot?

What I'm Loving Wednesday.

I'm loving ...

...these Burberry boots I just ordered on RueLaLa. Back in February, I posted about a similar pair from Burb that were no longer available, and I was really bummed about it because I was obsessed with them. I couldn't find them ANYWHERE. I am SO excited for these boots!

I thought the original $295 price tag was too much for me, so the $149 on RueLaLa was a steal (in my opinion). I survived this winter between my MukLuks, Uggs, and Burberry wellies, so I am excited to 1. throw one pair of my Uggs out (they are so old, I think I got them 5 years ago) and 2. wear these!

I generally don't like to buy cold-weather clothing & shoes if winter is almost over, but I think I will be satisfied with this purchase :)

What are you loving this Wednesday? Link up with Jamie here.

Spring is in the Air Challenge Day Deux!

Today is Day Two of Amber and Meghan's Blog Challenge -- After a rough day at work (with a capital R), two hours of boxing, and a cup of coconut fro-yo later, here I am ... ready to post (and super excited about it, too!)!

What is your favorite spring outfit?

Spring Blog Challenge Day Deux!

Top: Tucker
Jeans: Seven for All Mankind
Flats: Tory Burch
Necklace: Yves St. Laurent
Bag: Balenciaga

My goal for springtime dress: Look cute, but still be warm! I like being on the more casual side, but still look put-together (not like a p.o.s.). Boston spring days aren't that warm really. They're sunny yet breezy. I would classify them as warm-er...than winter. So it's important to not be deceived by the bright sunlight and end up shivering. I love lightweight tops that are long sleeved, like the one shown above.

Blazers are also a Boston gal's bestie in the springtime. And scarves of all kinds.

I am also in the market for a rain jacket with a hood for those rainy springtime days here. I love my red Shelli Segal trench, but it doesn't help me much when my umbrella flips up all the time. I think I am going to invest in this Helly Hansen packable jacket --

Actually, I would love this Burberry Packable (in blue or green), but it's a tad pricey for a packable lightweight jacket...no? Regardless, I heart it. And want it. Hint hint.

Thanks again to M & A for hosting.

Stay tuned for tomorrow's challenge post!

Stylish Blogger Award

A huge 'thanks!' to Bridget of BKR Fashion for sending me the Stylish Blogger Award. I am thrilled that she is a follower of Lamb Loves and I am so hearting BKR Fashion -- it is definitely worth reading!

Here are the rules:

  • Link back and thank the person who gave you the award. (thanks again, Bridget!)
  • Share 7 things about yourself.
  • Award 5 recently discovered blogs.
  • Contact them and tell them about their award.
Okay, so here are my 7 things:

1. I am obsessed with cucumbers and salt. I would choose them above just about any other food. When I was little, I called the 'mamoos', I have absolutely no idea why. My friends and family all tease me with this quirky obsession. I can't help but slice up a few cucumbers after work and eat them (and not share, if I can help it!). I also love rice pilaf and "potato items" (as I call them...yes, I am weird) -- french fries, potato chips, mashed potatoes hash browns... Yum!
2. I am left-handed, like my mother. The weird part is, a lot of people I have known for a really long time don't know or forget (even if they see me write something down), but newer people I meet at work (or see me writing) always, always notice.
3. My worst retail habit is when I find something I like, especially cardigans, I buy them in almost every color. I own an absurd amount of Jackie Cardigans from J.Crew. When I am out shopping I forget what colors I own.
4. I love antiques. I don't buy vintage clothing or anything like that, but I love antique furniture and jewelry. I have a lot of my grandmother's jewelry from the 50s onward, and they are my most memorable possessions. I also have a lot of vintage glassware in my apartment. I am dying to go antiquing this summer!
5. I am basically stuck in high school with the music that I listen to. My iPod is mainly comprised of music from high school and early college. I love country, but mainly listen to old-school Kenny, Rascal Flatts, Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith, Mont and so on. I can't get used to new country songs because I don't know all the lyrics (odd reason to not listen to something, but a reason nonetheless). I also love listening to oldies, haha.
6. I love flats. I will almost always choose them over wearing heels. I have short legs, and I think the jeans + heels combo quite frankly looks awkward on me. Freakishly long torsos suck (ok, my torso's length isn't actually freakish, but still).
7. I may or may not have OCD. I love things being neat and orderly, & I absolutely must have everything in my apartment clean. I prefer handwashing dishes to putting them in the dishwasher, because I just like to get them cleaned, dried and put away. I never leave my bed unmade (EVER!), everything must have a place, and I hate when things aren't aligned or stacked properly. The only household chore I don't enjoy (yes, I enjoy the others) is laundry and ironing.

And now, I award the Stylish Blogger Award to...

Meg of MEGAN LAND
Megan of A Suitcase and Stilettos
{av} of Long Distance Loving
Jamie of This Kind of Love
Katelyn at Living Life in Limbo

Loving my first award! Definitely brightened up my gloomy, wintry-mix Monday (...isn't is supposed to be the first day of Spring? Thanks, Boston!).

Spring is in the Air Challenge Day One

Happy Monday everyone! Today is Day One of the Spring is in the Air Blog Challenge, hosted by Meghan & Amber. The challenge will last all week, so tune in for more updates & feel free to play along & link up on their blogs!

What do you look forward to most about spring,
and what about winter are you going to miss?

Spring is my second favorite season, only losing to fall. The best thing about living in New England is that every season is dramatically different. When spring comes along, Boston suddenly changes completely. The scenery becomes green, flowers bloom, and the city becomes more alive, and the days are longer. I am absolutely looking forward to being able to go for walks on the weekends and only have to wear a light jacket. For some reason, I absolutely love the feeling of not wearing a bulky coat (winter), OR walking somewhere and being uncomfortably hot (summer).

I am also looking forward to spending more time outside -- sitting outside at lunchtime w. AB, happy hours at Tia's & Sailoft, & sitting on the patio when I go out to eat.

I also love that my hair won't be static-y anymore & that I can enjoy an iced tea from Starbucks without freezing my hand off.

Though it is bitter and cold out from November - mid-March in Boston, I have always appreciated winter. I will miss looking out the window when it's snowing, having an excuse eat soup everyday if I want to, going home to visit my mom and taking advanatage of the fireplace, shopping for my loved ones' Christmas gifts, and my Aunt Sadie tree-in-a-can candle (cannot describe how amazing it smells).

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Hey lovelies, hope you're all having a great weekend! My Sunday today is filled with cleaning, laundry & such. Yuck! Anyway, Here is a glimpse of the rest of my weekend --

On Friday, my bestie ES and I did our first boxing class. It was super hard, but fun! My arms are still sore!

Then, we met our boyfs and had some margaritas.

The nicer weather is finally making its appearance in Boston, so I decided to make the most of my Saturday by walking through Beacon Hill for a few hours with my boyfriend. It was a little chilly, but sunny and there was no snow. What more can a girl ask for!?

We made a midday stop at Beacon Hill Chocolates for a pistachio macaron.Originally, we were planning to go out with TM's roomies and their girlfs, which ended up being wine and cheese and bed early-ish. Lame, but it was amazing.

Tonight I am looking forward to dinner with my GPhi little sis, MP. Can't wait! :)

What did you do this weekend?

Prada Gets Personal(ized)

For those of you who can't resist customized or monogrammed accessories, Prada just introduced a new line of sunglasses called Prada Private, which allows you to create you own personalized pair of shades. The glasses come in black, white, or tortoise, with 'P' and 'R' "charms" (if you will), but you can order different letters & symbols for them and add and take them off as you please. I like the idea per se, but I am not sure if I am in love with these, especially for $365. I think they would be better if you could add three pieces on each side instead of two? What do you guys think?

Would you want to pick up some of these personalized Pradas?

P.S. Does anyone else think the new photo tool is a huge pain in the A?

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Hi All! A special thanks to Elizabeth and {av} for creating some fabulous posts for while I was away! I'm back from my trip to Naples & am so excited to participate in Jamie's What I'm Loving Wednesday Series!

I'm Loving ... Honey! I can't get enough lately. I love making baked apples with cinnamon and drizzled honey for dessert. I don't have a huge sweet tooth, but when I am craving dessert, I make this. I also began putting honey in my coffee instead of cream&sugar and it's delicious! When I go out to dinner, I love getting a cheese plate with raw honey. Cheese + Wine + Raw Honey = Yum!

I'm Loving ... Emily Giffin's Something Borrowed. Okay, so I am a few years behind on this. I love to read but have never read anything by Emily Giffin. I downloaded it for my iPad and began reading it on the plane ride home! Something Borrowed has a good plot & is an easy read -- so ideal (thanks, CB, for the suggestion!). Plus, the movie is coming out soon, & I always have to read the book before I see the movie!

I'm Loving ... That I finished my taxes yesterday! Can't wait for my refund -- should I save or splurge?!

I'm Loving ... That I am going to Miel w. AB tomorrow for Restaurant Week! I have been dying to try Miel for awhile now.

guest post: easy breezy scarves

{top row: 1 - 2 bottom row: 1 - 2}

With spring on the horizon, I've been looking for ways to incorporate a little fun into my outfit--and stay cozy. These easy breezy scarves do just that :) I love all the geometric patterns out this season and hope one of these beauties will be in my cold New England hands soon!

A big thank you to Lamb for asking me to guest post! I hope you'll hop on over to {long distance loving} soon--xoxo {av}

guest post: beach essentials

Hi everyone! I'm Elizabeth from Have Your Cake. As you might know, lucky Lamb is vacationing in Naples right now, and I was delighted when she asked me to guest post for her while she's away. I myself am preparing to jet off to warmer weather this week so I thought I'd share my beach essentials.
Here's the run down:
1. Tory Burch tote: Everyone needs a beach bag and this Tory Burch straw tote definitely makes a statement. I always fill mine with paperbacks, fashion magazines, and lots of water to counterbalance all the cocktails!
2. J.Crew tunic: I used to pack loads of summery outfits for trips but I've finally learned to throw in one or two dinner and shopping ensembles and save the rest of my precious luggage space for breezy tunics and cover-ups that I know I'll wear to-death.
3. Anthropologie bikini: Of course you can't forget a swimsuit! I own a shameful amount and can't wait to lounge around in this beautiful coral one. Its surprisingly flattering.
4. Bliss Get Out of Hair: I've been using this product for years and always bring it along on beach trips. After a wax it keeps the blonde leg fuzz away for weeks which is perfect for when I'm in vacation-mode and too lazy to shave.
5. Neutrogena Baby sunblock: I know a lot of people wouldn't dream of putting SPF 60 on but this is all I use for my face. This and a small brand named Blue Lizard are the only formulas I can find that are physical sun barriers rather than chemical, which is a necessity for my sensitive skin (and great if you've already had too much sun- there's no burning feeling when you apply!).
6. Miami Vice: A vacation of mine wouldn't be complete without a slew of cocktails and this one is my tropical destination favorite. Its half strawberry daiquiri, half pina colada, and all kinds of delicious.
7. D&G Aviators: These are my all-time favorite sunglasses. I've had to replace them once because I lost a pair in the ocean but thankfully some random Amazon seller still has them in stock.

I hope you enjoyed my tropical trip packing list and even if you aren't getting away for some sun in the near future, kick back and enjoy a cocktail, I insist!

Amrita Singh: Stella's Copycat?

The Original
Stella McCartney 'Falabella'

I have mixed feelings about Stella McCartney's Falabella bag. Sometimes, I like it -- it's edgy yet femme. Other times, I think it just not 'me', look at the $1,000 price tag, and tell myself it's not worth it. Regardless of my desire for this bag (among other things) to be more affordable, I have a general rule that I am not a fan of 'fakes', or bags that are less expensive imitations of a designer piece. However, I can always be swayed (especially when it is not as blatant/cheap fake Louis, Chanel etc.!)

The Copycat?

Amrita Singh 'Valette'

Amrita Singh has a similar bag, the Valette, that is nearly identical from a distance. The Valette is only $250 -- it is faux leather and has 18k gold plate hardware, and comes in six colors (black, beige, navy, orange, red and turquoise).

I personally like Stella's better only because it looks more well made (and probably is) and I don't love the outside pockets on the Valette -- but I think that Amrita's bag is a good substitute if you're looking to buy a bag similar to the Falabella without making a huge investment, or if you just simply happen to like it!

What do you guys think? Is Amrita Singh's bag too similar to Stella's? Are you okay with subtle (or not-so-subtle) designer imitations?

Friday's Fancies

I was so excited when {av} of {long distance loving} introduced me to her "Friday's Fancies" segment. I am in Naples with my sister, so I am writing my post in advance so I can hit the beach without missing out on the Friday's Fancies fun :)

This week I was super busy at work before I left for vacation, so I was slightly lacking creativity the past few days. So, I stole a little inspiration from the gorgeous floral arrangements at my office. I love birds of paradise, they are so fun looking and bright. I love when the florist in my building uses them in the arrangements around the office! So this week's FF I went for a birds of paradise color scheme. I love purple already, and am beginning to love orange (especially when I am tan!), so I fancy everything shown above :)

I fancy (not in any particular order)...

Birds of Paradise Flowers
Brian Atwood Maniac Pumps
Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Bag Mini
Super Flat-Top Sunglasses
Hermes Silk Twill Scarf
Coralia Leets Purple Quartz Tear Drop Earrings
Diane von Furstenberg Layly Tiger Dress
Philosophy Mimosa Lip Shine

Thank You, Target!

On March 13, Target is going to relaunch 34 of the dresses from previous designer collaborations as a celebration for 5 years of Go International style. I always get so excited about their designer collaborations -- particularly, Mulberry (but was a tad disappointed!) -- but I without fail forget the day-of and everything sells out so quickly! The dresses will be available online & in stores. Here are some of my top picks from the relaunch --

Tracy Feith $39.99

Thakoon $39.99

Behnaz Sarafpour $44.99

Proenza Schouler $44.99

I think my favorite is the Behnaz Sarafpour piece -- how gorgeous!? The rest of the line includes dresses from Luella Bartley, Zac Posen, Tucker, Tara Jarmon, Paul & Joe, Libertine, Alice Temperley, Erin Fetherston, Jovovich-Hawk, Rogan, Richard Chai, Jonathan Saunders, and Rodarte. You can find a complete set of photos of the line here.

Don't forget to hop onto target.com or stop by your nearest store on March 13th!

Wee Bit Wednesday

{one}
what color is your kitchen?
White. I rent my apartment so all my walls are white. But our living and dining room are exposed brick so that definitely makes up for the bland white walls!

{two} do you have a good luck charm?
Nope, I am not a huge believer in luck -- except when it involved the lottery, gambling, & scratch tickets.

{three} do you prefer to write with a pen or pencil?
Pen. My office has these amazing pens they're kind of marker-y and they make my handwriting look really good (which I love!)

{four} can you use chopsticks?
Unfortunately, no. I used to use the chopsticks that are attached at the top when I was little. Now, I just use silverware.

{five} do you prefer baths or showers?
Showers in my apartment, but I love a nice bath in a spa-like tub.

{six} what is your favorite salad dressing?
I love Kraft Seven Seas Red Wine Vinaigrette, which isn't sold in very many grocery stores anymore...I think I may be the ONLY person who buys it! I have used it since I was little & I am super picky about dressings, so I have always stuck to it. Other than that, I love olive oil with lemon and sea salt.

{seven} can you sing the alphabet backwards?
No, but I used to know the Greek alphabet backwards! :)

{eight} do you have any allergies?
Pollen, some types of trees, & dogs & cats.

{nine} crunchy or creamy peanut butter?
crunchy! especially on an english muffin. yum!

{ten} have you ever hitch hiked?
no, i would never. I think people are going to kill/rob me in broad daylight (paranoid much?), so hitchhiking is probably the last thing I'll never consider!

Link up to Leigh Ashley for Wee-Bit Wednesdays here.
