friday's fancies

friday's fancies

above --

Raquel Allegra tank
Chloé oversized twill blazer
JBrand 811 mid-rise twill cropped skinny jeans
Giuseppe Zanotti sandals
Fendi Peek-a-Boo leather tote
Chanel Vintage Rope necklace
Carrera Champion aviators

I actually die for this outfit.

For one, I need a cream colored blazer for breezy nights,
and because it is just amazing in general.

Have any of you ladies bought a bright pair of skinnys yet?
These blue JBrands are the bomb.com.

I also wish the shape of the Carrera aviators would fit my face!

As for the rest of the outfit,
Vintage Chanel + Fendi + Giuseppi Zanotti
Need I say more?

I don't have too many plans for the weekend.
It is TM's roommate's birthday,
so Saturday evening we are going to Island Creek Oyster Bar.
I would l o v e to wear this entire ensemble to PH's birthday festivities.

What is everyone doing this weekend?
I hope the weather is not too crazy where you are,
& that you & your loved ones are safe.

I am Obsessed with Frisée.

If you know me, you know I am a salad fiend (and a chip fiend...and a french fry fiend...). As of late, though, I have been getting uber-bored with romaine, butter lettuce, and iceberg...I end up making a salad for dinner and end up being p.o.-ed because it's blah-tasting. Then I throw it out and eat microwave popcorn for dinner -- details. This happens roughly twice a week.

Enter delicious frisée. I get weirdly excited when I look at a menu and I see frisée. I even discussed it here after my Valentine's Day dinner w. TM at K.O. Prime.

I have been buying frisée from Whole Foods to jazz up my dinners & lunches so I am less tempted to go to Panera, Cosi, or Sebastian's every. single. day. And it definitely has worked! Here is a recipe that I am dying to try. I suggest you jump on the frisée bandwagon as well!

via
Frisée, Bacon & Goat Cheese Salad

Ingredients --

1/3 c. pinenuts or walnuts
1/3 lb. sliced bacon (I may opt for pancetta here)
1/3 c. olive oil
1 heaping tbsp. Dijon mustard
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1 tsp. sugar
1/4 tbsp. Kosher Salt
1/8 tbsp. freshly ground pepper
1 lb frisée
3 oz. goat cheese, crumbled

Directions --

Toast the nuts in a large, dry skillet over low heat, stirring frequently, until golden, about 5 minutes. Remove the nuts.

Cut the bacon into 1/2-inch pieces and add to the skillet. Cook over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Whisk the oil, mustard, lemon juice, sugar, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl. Tear the frisée into small pieces and place in a serving bowl. Add the bacon, nuts, and goat cheese. Toss the salad with the dressing.

Weekend Recap!

Hi All!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend with fam & friends! I am still trying to shake my cold/sinus infection I have had for the past two weeks, so my weekend was full of napping!

Friday, I watched Country Strong w. TM & had tiramisu from Cafe Vittoria around the block. There have been so many tourists & visitors to the North End (Italian District of Boston, where I live!) and all of the pastry shops have lines around the block, even at 10:30 pm! TM & I decided to go to Vittoria, which is a coffee shop (with the best cappucino) but it also had pastries & gelato, which most people don't know about! We were able to avoid the lines, thankfully!

Have any of you seen Country Strong? It was totally different than I thought it was going to be! I truly enjoyed watching it, despite the fact that I cried multiple times (yes, I am one of those people)! I suggest you all see it!

Saturday, it was rainy in Boston. I finished Love the One You're With & began reading Chasing Harry Winston. I like CHW so far, I am excited to keep reading! Next up on my reading list is Water for Elephants and The Help (thanks to those of you who tweeted suggestions to me!). TM & I also watched the first Harry Potter movie -- neither of us have seen any of them! I fell asleep in the middle so I am going to have to watch the second half asap! We had short ribs, truffled mashed potatoes, and asparagus for dinner. TM did such a good job cooking! I supervised and made the cheese plate for an appetizer (with raw honey & soppressata too!). It was a feast!

Sunday, the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS out! TM & I went to Houston's for lunch (it was changed to Hillstone awhile back, but I refuse to stop calling it Houston's!) and got the chicken tender platter per usual (Am I 7?). I can't help myself. We walked all around the city, through Fort Point & the Seaport. The weather was perfect & I was loving the breeze. I broke in my new Jack Rogers no the walk but my feet are hating me this morning!

It was such a relaxing few days, which I totally needed. I hope that I am rejuvenated for some more social happenings this weekend!

How did you all celebrate Easter?

Friday's Fancies!

Petit-déjeuner à Paris

above --

Malene Birger Ettae striped linen-blend cardigan
Acne Black Hex Triumph jeans
Theory ballet flats
Zara Fashion City bag
Ippolita Onyx & Sterling Silver large teardrop earrings

My favoritestestest person in the entire world -- my sissy KL -- is heading to PARIS tomorrow with her boyfy JZ. I am uber-jeal. This is her first time in Europe. I have only been to Italy & I loved it
so much. I really want to take a vaca soon. There are so many places I want to go in Europe-- London, Paris, Greece, Sweden, Copenhagen...the list goes on! I am so excited for her. They are going for ten days & are visiting the champagne region at the end of their trip. Clearly, I am living vicariously through her per usual.

Of course, my sis picked out some new outfits for her visit. This outfit is what I would sport while doing the typical touristy stuff in Paris during the springtime. Flats are a
must - these Theory babies are velvet. Enough said. The coral Zara bag is perf for touring a new city -- there is enough room for a tourist's necessities & her personal items. The color is amazing too.

I live for a chic wrap cardi & I die for this one by Malene Birger.

Lauren Conrad's Latest Venture

A few days ago, Lauren Conrad launched a new website called The Beauty Department.

Have any of you checked it out yet?

The Beauty Department is going to be a blog of sorts, full of hair and makeup how-to's, tips, tools, tricks & trends.

I have been reading it and I like whats I see! It is updated multiple times a day & the posts are short & sweet. I loathe lengthy beauty & hair how-to's.

I especially love this post. It is a tutorial for vintage loose curls via photos. It seems so much easier seeing it visually step by step.

I cannot wait to try it!

There is also a posting about Ombre nails. I have secretly been wanting an Ombre mani for sooo long... I think I need to get one asap!

Head over to The Beauty Department and let me know what you think!

What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm Loving ... my mom! Today is her birthday! My mom is the most giving, caring, intelligent woman I have ever met. She works so hard at everything she does and took such great care of my sister and me! I can never thank her enough for all she does for us! I cannot wait to take her to dinner at Davio's & give her the Kate Spade bag!

I'm Loving ... that I am going to visit my old roomie HL in Montreal in May! I have never been, but I hear the city is beautiful. I cannot wait to see the city HL now calls home! I am absolutely making her be a nerdy tourist with me! :)

I'm Loving ... Scoops! It is such a fun game that I downloaded for my iPad. It is a simply concept -- stack ice cream scoops on the cone & avoid the vegetables -- but I am so addicted!! You can also play with a hamburger instead of an ice cream cone. How adorable!?

My iPad Case Conundrum

I got my iPad as a Christmas gift from my mom, and I use it all the time.

Currently, I am using this functional, yet plain, InCase cover --

This case is quite handy, but I am really in the mood to spice up my iPad with a new, fancier case.

Awhile back, I put my name on the waitlist for the Louis Vuitton iPad case, and when I finally got the call that it was in, the store told me I would have to come and pick it up by noon the next day, and I wasn't going to be able to make it there in time. The iPad case of my dreams slipped through my fingers. Rude.

Since then, though, I have recovered and broadened my horizons to all the many choices my favorite places have to offer.

So now I am faced with a difficult decision. I am enlisting my lovely readers to help me pick out an iPad case.

tsk,tsk, jcrew

Some of you may recall last week when I took advantage of J.Crew's Extra 30% off Sale and picked up these. Well, to my delight I checked my e-mail and saw my goodies arrived today! I immediately went downstairs and got the box and skipped back up to my apartment.

..but sadly, I am a little bummed out. Here's why...

The Safari Tunic is really, really, REALLY wide & the fabric itself wasn't what I was expecting. I was hoping it had some sheen. It's a bit dull.

The Shelby lace dress is going to be perfect for S/S. I am always a bit weary to buy tops/dresses/things with zippers from the final sale because I feel like they can have very little room in the chest area and well.... that just doesn't convenience me and my ta's at all. Fortunately, I didn't have this issue BUT the dress is a little big around the waist and it's definitely noticeable that there is a lot of extra fabric there.
The last thing I ordered was this Crystal Venus Flytrap bracelet, and when I opened the little silver box, I saw this:
Mini Pave-Link Bracelet

This has happened to me with J.Crew before. I have received wrong sizes, which sometimes, works to my benefit and the item fits better than the size I had actually ordered. This time, this is a completely different item, which angers me because I was so looking forward to sporting what I had actually purchased. I looked online to see if maybe the Venus Flytrap Bracelet was sold out, but it's still on there! Slightly annoying.

The upside to this mix-up -- this bracelet is still full price ($78). That is actually pretty sweet because I only paid $24.49 for it.

I still want the Venus Flytrap Bracelet still. Should I just order that too? What do you ladies think?

Giveaway Winner!

Today I used a Random Number Generator to find the winner of my Easter Basket giveaway!

Without further adieu, the winning number is...

The winner is Beth of SweetBef's Blog! Congratulations!! :)

Beth's blog is one of my absolute faves, mainly because she is HILARIOUS (especially here and here)! I wish I could entertain my readers as much as she does! You should definitely stop by her blog!

So, I don't want to completely giveaway what the contents of the bag are just yet, because I still want Beth to be surprised when she gets it (after all, you're not supposed to know what is in your Easter Basket ahead of time, right?), so I will post about it later this week!

Beth, make sure to e-mail me where I should ship your Easter Basket!

Thanks so much for all of you for entering! I had so much fun reading what your favorite types of candy are (by the way, Reese's eggs are by FAR the top choice!), getting to know you all better, and picking stuff out for the Easter basket. I am at 50 followers right now, and can't decide if I should do another giveaway at 100 posts or 100 followers (I'm halfway at least! Ha!). What do you guys think? Maybe I can do it simultaneously?!! What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm Loving Trader Joe's Fiberful Bars. These delicious babies only have 60 calories, 0g fat, and 6g of fiber -- that is a ton of fiber (which keeps you full) for only 60 cals! The apricot kind is my fave. I buy them 30 at a time, and they don't come in a box, so the cashier always thinks I am a crazy person when I go and stock up! Oh, and I am just loving Trader Joe's in general, by the way. Their pre-cooked balsamic chicken, white cheddar puffs (TJ's Brand is way better Pirate's Booty), and frozen Margherita pizzas are amaze!

I'm Loving that I am attending SO's bridal shower this Saturday! I have been to bridal showers before, but SO is the first out of my friends to get married. I am so excited for her! She is marrying SM in August. Oh, and she's moving to Germany too. How amazing!?

via

I'm Loving that I found a cardi in my closet today that still had the tags on it! I love a fresh Jackie cardi from J.Crew, they are soo soft when you first get them! And it's a perfect bluish-green pastel, perfect for spring :)

I'm Loving that J.Crew's online sale selection is an extra 30% off today AND free shipping if you spend 150+. Use the code MUSTHAVE.

On a slightly more pessimistic note, it's pouring in Boston & I got soaked on my walk to work. Wah!

Monday's Must-Haves!

I must say, Kate Spade really knocked her S/S 2011 collection out of the park. How adorbs are these bobby pins from Kate Spade? My hair is stick straight, aka, not extremely exciting. I have always wished I had more body to my hair & that I could style it without it falling flat within 30 minutes. But, I have come to terms with the fact that this will probably never happen. So, I try to jazz my hair up with hair accessories, and I simply die for these Piper bobby pins. They are too cute.

In other Kate Spade news, I ended up ordering the Kate Spade bag for my mother's birthday (April 20) that I discussed in a previous post. I could not be more thrilled with it. I ended up purchasing the coral color instead of black. The bag is simply beautiful, the leather is so soft, and it looks extremely well made. The interior of the bag is beige and white striped, amazing! I cannot wait for her to open her gift!

In other blogging news, Megan from Fried Green Pickles is giving away a chic Bedford Cottage throw blanket from Joss & Main! Click here to enter. Simply become a follower & let her know what your favorite item from Joss & Main is. I chose the Hot Pink and Pumpkin platter from the Preppy Plates sale.

Initally, I wasn't going to share this lovely giveaway with you all, obviously because I want to win! haha! Just kidding. Go and enter!

L'Wren Scott Lady Laque Raffia Pouchette

Hi Lovely Readers,

Greetings from under my Tracy Reese covers. I was feeling under the weather and am home sick today from work. Blah. I wasn't feeling too inspired by anything in particular -- most likely because I've been napping and watching Teen Mom reruns since early this morning, but I really love this look.

I love maxi dresses, and despite the fact that I am a shorty, I am determined to rock one (or multiple) this summer! How gorgeous is this Halston Heritage dress? Subtle gold accents, like these bangles and L'Wren Scott clutch, are ideal for a dress that can stand alone and make a statement.

RH of Miami - Closing Thoughts.

Who is watching the Reunion for Real Housewives of Miami tonight?

I just watched the season finale in preparation.

Here are my thoughts about each housewife...

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
(l - r)

1. Alexia - I like Alexia, but I don't really have a strong opinion about her. I think she is a good, active mother to her children. I do think, however, that she should focus more of her attention on her son's education than his modeling career. If his career doesn't take off, what will he have (besides a trust fund)?

2. Marysol - She seems hardworking & like she has a good head on her shoulders. I like that she's a working gal. Her ring is absolutely enormous. Doesn't it kind of look fake because it's that big? I also enjoy her extensive collection of Pucci.

3. Larsa - I don't have very many nice things to say about Larsa. I think she is spoiled and self-centered. I also think that Elsa was on point with her emotional immaturity. I think she has a wonderful life and takes it completely for granted. Here's a tip -- instead of hiring and firing nanny after nanny, why don't you actually parent your children? It's not like you have any other responsibilities.

4. Cristy - I wasn't a huge fan of Cristy until the final episode. Like Larsa, I think she was immature and took her luxuries for granted. I think she may have been showing off a bit in the beginning of the show, and (hopefully) the Cristy we saw in the final episode is more of the 'real her'. I thought she was a good sport at Lea's luncheon - the most out of all the housewives (with Alexia), whereas I would have expected her to be pouting. Bravo, Cristy!

5. Lea - I am slightly indifferent towards Lea. I admire her drive and success. Moving on...

6. Adriana - I sometimes question her parenting, as she is a single mother and never seems to be with her son. As a whole, I think she has his best interests in mind. I am unsure if she actually loves her man-friend, or if she is staying with him so he can support her and her son (financially and emotionally).

And, of course, the unofficial seventh Miami housewife...

Elsa.

Elsa is absolutely insane,
but also quite entertaining.

That is all.

I am off to wish my dear HB farewell with a drink or two.
She is moving to China. How cool is that?

Don't forget to enter my giveaway!

P.S. Please keep in mind that these are my personal thoughts, and that I don't mean to offend anyone in any way by them! xo

Monday's Must-Have

LinkHow gorgeous is this Michael Kors "Skorpios" Drawstring Satchel? I spent a fair amount of time in the Bloomingdale's site last week because of their Friends & Family 20% off, and this beauty caught my eye everytime. I love the braided drawstring & strap detail, and subtle side pockets. I also die for gold hardware. The interior is equally as amazing, as it has a number of compartments so all of your junk doesn't get lost at the bottom (story of my life).
What do you guys think of my Monday must-have?

It's more of a lust than a must, but oh well. :)
