friday's fancies

So I am sure you all know by now,

that I always try and be comfortable no matter what I am wearing.

Put me in a long cardi and leggings or jeans and I am in heaven.

I am spending my weekend working (boo).

I am definitely going to take advantage of the fact that I don't have to be in business cas.

And, I want to look good when I'm sitting there and wondering,

"Why am I here on a Saturday?"

tank - Sea NY. I love the back detail!

skinnys - Ksubi. I think colored denim is going to be one of my next purchases!

sweater - Calypso St. Barth. I want to wear this sweater everyday of my life!

bag - Romygold. Edgy, a welcome change from my usually girly style.

ring - KiKi McDonough. Sparkles galore. Need I say more?

bracelet - David Yurman. I have had my eye on this DY bracelet for years.

flats - Tory Burch. I actually own these, and they are fab.

Link-up this Friday and every Friday with {av}.

And remember to go to Long Distance Loving and "like" your favorite Friday's Fancies look!

blog fabulosity

...am I Kimora Lee Simmons? Did I just use the term 'fabulosity'?
Indeed I did.
And it's because I am absolutely thrilled with my new blog design!

Jillian from Cornflake Dreams is the mastermind behind this gorgeous layout.

And, she even did it on her birthday. Best blog designer, ever.

A blog makeover was definitely way overdue!

Thanks so much Jillian! xo

What do you guys think?!

summer scarves.

One of my favorite summer looks is pairing a plain dress or white tee with a lightweight scarf. It is such an easy way to look completely put together when you are running out of the house, or far too hot to try and accessorize. I love these affordable options from Rumor and Forever21.

bling haul!

I was so excited to see that my new Fleur Blings came in the mail just a DAY after I ordered them! JoJo is a Boston-based jewelry designer, so I am lucky that I always get my blings right after I order them! As I mentioned here, JoJo was having a Fleur Bling sale and it was so good so I ordered six pairs. I am an avid JoJo fan and I wear her earrings everyday, and I am so pleased with all the pairs I got this time.

I can't wait to wear them all! I wore the capri with orange pair last night to CP's and doing errands this afternoon. The sale isn't over yet, and I am so tempted to place another order! Crazy.

capri with orange / clear with emerald / black with clear
clear 6-petal / bright blue 5-petal
emerald with pink

I am sure you are all always impressed with the quality of my pictures!
Just kidding.
Sorry I always use my Berry to upload pictures onto here!

friday's fancies! a special celebration

it's my favorite day of the week.
friday!
because...it's the weekend,
AND
{av}'s Friday's Fancies Link-Up! Yay!

This week is even more fun because this week you can vote for your favorite FF look!
Head on over and you can 'like' any outfit on the link-up

5yearparty

/ top - stella mccartney / jeggings - adriano goldschmied / bag - chloe /
cuff - maje / ring - marie helene / earrings - gorjana
/ pumps - yves st laurent /

this weekend marks the five year anniversary
of my longtime bestie, CP, was cancer-free.

and we are majorly celebrating this momentous occasion!
this outfit is perfect for her fiesta.

i remember exactly where i was when my mother told me CP had been diagnosed with hodgkins.
i was at logan airport and my mother told me while i was waiting for my luggage.
i was literally crushed.
i was 18 and a little sheltered, assuming things like this would never happen to people that i love.

but it did, and she was so incredibly strong throughout the entire process,
which made me so proud when she kicked cancer's ass.
her attitude was always positive;
i didn't think it was possible to handle something like that as well as she did.

my favorite memory is after she finished chemo during the summertime, and we went to the John Mayer concert together.
we had so much fun, standing on our chairs and screaming his lyrics and me crying (I'm a cryer).
i have always felt honored to be CP's friend, and i will always.

my summer bucket list.

So many link-ups this Wednesday,

I obviously have to participate in them all.

Also, speaking of link-ups, I was reading the blogs I follow and was confused as I read peoples' Target Tuesday posts, only to realize it is indeed Wednesday, I was just behind on reading.
Clearly, it is one of those weeks {where I can't locate my brain}!

And it's 10 pm. I am down to the wire here.

I am linking-up now with Jillian of Cornflake Dreams, who I adore.
Her list is so fancy looking, so I apologize how budget my bucket list is! Ha!

Without further ado, here is lamb's summer 2011 bucket list...

- Go to Antique Alley in New Hampshire -
I have been dying to here!
It has over 500 dealers covering 20 miles.

- Eat Well & Take Morning Walks -
This lady gets super tempted by snacking all summer.
There are too many bbqs, beach days, and happy hours with apps for me to take.

I really want to concentrate on eating well this summer, and walking in the morning before it gets too hot {and hit the gym}.

- Red Sox Games -
I went to one Sox game last summer, and it was raining!
Sox games are such a fun experience.
Even though I claim I hate Massholes, they sure know how to bring energy to cheer on their teams!
- Take Advantage of Where I Live -
I live in the North End, which (in my opinion) is the greatest place in Boston.
I want to make sure I appreciate it, because I know I won't live here forever.
Trips to Drink in Fort Point, picnics on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, walks & window shopping through Beacon Hill, and runs along the water.
And plenty of outdoor bevvies.
I don't want to spend any day of any weekend indoors this year.
- Plan a Trip for Fall -
I've been saying "I'm dying to take a trip!" since I graduated two years ago.
I have taken a few, but now a trip-trip...know what I mean?!
I would love to be on a beach somewhere for Columbus Day Weekend.

I am sure I will be updating this bucket list throughout the summer, but I really want to make sure I accomplish these!

What is on your summer bucket list?!

My Very First Birchbox!

Have any of you heard of Birchbox??
Birchbox is a site that sends you a box of beauty samples every month based on your personal preferences.

I had heard a few things about it and decided to give it a shot & I am so glad I did! It is nice to get mail as it is, & I love trying new products! Birchbox is a great way to test a ton of products -- for only $10 a month! You can also purchase the full-sized products via their site as well as other popular beauty items, and rack up points!! Win.

I signed up at the end of May and received my first package last week!
How cute is the pink shipping box?! I could not wait to open it! I was stalking the UPS delivery!!

This month's theme was vacation-ready products. Each box comes with a card from the Birchbox team explaining the theme they chose, and on the back is a description of each product inside...

Here is what I got!!!

Archipelago Pomegranate Soap
I am a big fan of bringing bar soap & sample sizes in small packets when I travel. I hate when my products spill in my bag because it causes a mess and I have to refill my products quicker. Bar soap isn't as expensive and the sample products (I have at least 50 in my apartment from Kiehl's!) and I can just throw them out at the hotel. This pomegranate soap smells delicious, and is sold as a gift set with hand creme and a soy candle.

Kate Spade Twirl
This is a perfect summery scent. It is citrusy-floral but not too sweet.

Laura Geller Baked Blush n' Brighten
The perfect blush-highlighter-bronzer. This will definitely be in my purse all summer when I need to freshen up a bit. The color is perfect for my skin, and the compact has a mirror too! Amaze.

Deborah Lippmann Stripper to Go Nail Lacquer Removers
You know when you are sitting at your desk and you start chipping your nail polish and then realize it looks fug? That is where these puppies come in. They are "finger mitts" that remove your polish. Perfect for your purse (clearly, I love putting a million things in my bag just in case).

Sircuit Cosmeceuticals Molecular Mist
This is by far my favorite product of the bunch. This is a moisturizing mist that can be used to set makeup or as a refresher and is supposed to plump and hydrate your skin. I have used it for a few days and love it. It is going to be perfect for those super humid days when any type of lotion on your face feels disgusting.

Have I sold you on Birchbox yet? Click here and sign up! And you can thank me later :)

Can't wait for my July box!

Kate Spade New Arrivals -- TDF!

Fiorella Statement Earrings

I have a longstanding love affair with Kate Spade.
I remember my first black nylon Kate Spade bag from when I was 14.
Her style never ceases to amaze me!

Love these new arrivals.

Sorry I have been an exceptionally bad blogger lately.
Crappy weather + no time + grumpiness + bad ideas = No posts!
Haha.

I promise some great things this week, even though I have yet to think of them! ;)

I wish...

...that I could leave my apartment wearing this Cynthia Rowley mini without thinking (knowing) I look ridiculous.

I secretly die for this.

Happy Saturday, kittens.

Summer Skin Essentials

Happy Thursday lovebugs :)

I am back from my cousin's wedding & am so thrilled for ER & her new hubby.
They are headed to Key West in the morning! Grr.
Oh well. I guess they deserve it, right? Just kidding! So excited for them.

I am really bad about applying sunscreen to my face in the summertime when I'm not at the beach (I know, I know...). I am a sweating machine (gross, I know), so I hate putting on moisturizers that have spf because I feel like I sweat my makeup off the second I step out the door.

My facial moisturizer has spf 15 (Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer), and I usually use Stila Color Tinted Moisturizer, which has spf 20 and is oil-free.

Another issue I have is redness. I am so lucky that I rarely get zits/pimples, but my skin is so sensitive that if I wear too much makeup, dry my face off to roughly, or sleep on sheets that are rough or have harsh detergents (so basically, when I do ANYTHING), my skin can get really splotchy. Which, obviously, I hate. So, I try to wear as little makeup as possible, especially when I am sweaty beast status in the hot weather. I try and get away with mascara and gloss as often as possible!

I have been hearing a lot about mineral powders in general lately and saw that a bunch have come out that will protect my skin. Bare Escentuals has a mineral powder that is all natural and has spf30. Peter Thomas Roth carries some similar products -- an original mineral powder with spf30, one with spf30 and works well with oily skin, and another with more sun protection (spf45). PTR does carry a tinted powder with spf30, see here. I do tan pretty easily and rarely wear any powder/bronzer in the summer anyway, so the color-factor isn't huge for me.

For those who are looking for a mineral veil with color, Philosophy has a product called The Supernatural Instant Sunshine. Unfortunately, no SPF in this thing, but it got great reviews. Plus, I do love the packaging and the brush looks really soft!

The selling factor for me is that all of these are brush+powder combos. Super easy application and transportability. I reapply often in the summer, so these are perf to throw in your beach bag or purse.

Have any of you tried these? What did you think?

What else is in your summer beauty arsenal?

Aldo's Summer Wedges

This summer marks my first ever Aldo purchase.

Sadly, they are too big & no longer have the style, so I am returning them. Bummer!

Anyways,
I am pleasantly surprised with their summer wedges. They are all so adorbs.
