friday's fancies - blog swap!

I have missed linking up for {av}'s Friday's Fancies every week lately! I knew I wouldn't be able to pass up the Blog Swap this week. I got paired with the lovely Nicole of Nicole Rene Design. {av} said she didn't have an exact science with pairing bloggers, but she did a fabulous job with Nicole and me!

We decided to choose a look based on some of our favorite celebrities. She chose Taylor Swift. Love, love her music and she has great style (umm..have you seen her in Vogue? amazing!). It has been fun to see Taylor's style evolve as she gets older. Anyway, onto Nicole's post!

Alright, so when Victoria & I decided to do our Friday Fancies on a celebrity... I decided to do a Taylor Swift inspired outfit. I've loved Taylor Swift since the moment I heard "Tim McGraw." She's not necessarily my fashion icon, but I do love me a cute summer dress & cowboy boots.

Taylor Swift is by far my favorite singer. She even hugged me at her concert... !!! I have it on video, & yes you can hear me singing terribly in it so it's pretty funny. Anyway, hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Thanks Victoria for letting me guest post!! :) Come stop by Nicole Rene Design if you're interested in anything weddings, home decor, style & more!

------
Okay, so how jeal are you that she got to meet T-Swift?! I know I am!!

Be sure to check out my post on Kourtney Kardashian on Nicole's blog here.

Happy Friday kittens!

porcupine popover.

I am oddly smitten with this top from J.Crew -- and I have no idea why. It is very interesting, and almost ugly. But I love it so much and want it -- badly.

Maybe it's because it reminds me of my childhood drawing, entitled 'Prickly'.
Prickly = Amazing.
I believe my sister titled this drawing "Prickly". I think this was actually supposed to be my grandmother's dog Muffy (and a tiny cat in the corner).  If my motor skills were this bad, there is no way I could have written "Prickly" that well. Or knew how to spell for that matter. Moving on.

So this shirt. It was originally $550 (umm..no.). And now it's on sale for $329.99 with 30% off (still no).  Every time I look on J.Crew's website, I keep checking to see if it has gone further on sale.

I often read J.Crew Aficionada before I make online purchases to see what other buyers liked and disliked and for sizing reasons.  Well, everyone (except for maybe one) on this website hates this shirt. Wahhh.

So then I was at a B&M store with my sister last week and I saw it in person. Now it is an official obsession. It is uglier on the website that it is in person, which made me happy.  And it was on sale for $100, but it wasn't my size. Soo..why is it still $329.99 on the website?!

What do you guys think? Have you ever loved an article of clothing that is ugly/bizarre, and that somehow makes it cute? or something that most people hated? Share with me!

Catbird Alphabet Rings

How precious are these lowercase initial rings from Catbird NYC?  I have been looking for a thin gold ring for my pointer finger and this is it! I love the simplicity of them. The tiny stars, hearts and ampersands are so cute as well.

Well! That's all I really have to say about these -- they are too presh for words.

How is everyone's week going?

product rants & raves

First, I have a quick product rant to share with you all.  As I stated here, I had purchased FACE Stockholm polish in Ruby Slipper from J.Crew. Last week, I painted my nails with it and immediately loved the color and the glossiness of this polish.  However, by the end of the night, it had already begun chipping! I couldn't believe it. When I had woken up the next day, it had chipped much more, and by the end of Day 1, it had all come off. Yuck!

I have not experienced this with any polish, drugstore or salon. I am going to bring it back to J.Crew, not necessarily to get my money back (I did buy it Final Sale, after all), but mostly to see if they have received complaints from other customers.

Have any of you used FACE Stockholm polish? Did this happen to you as well?

I did, however, purchase an Ombre nail polish set (in Rover) from The New Black. It comes with 5 mini polishes, one for each nail.  I put it on tonight (hence why my nails look terrible, I have no gotten rid of the excess polish around my nails yet!). I think I love this!!! Such a fun way to mix it up. I also picked up some glittery Deborah Lippmann polish which I cannot wait to try.

I also fell back in love with Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer.  It is a conditioning lip treatment with a slight tint. It looks amazing and prevents my lips from feeling chapped. I have been using it non-stop since I opened the package this morning.

XOXO

this vs. that

Loafers + Glitter = I die.

These J.Crew and Jimmy Choo loafers are nearly identical, right?

The only difference? J.Crews are $99.99 (originally $215), while Jimmy Choo's are $495 (yikes!).

Plus, J.Crew is offering an extra 30% off sale items, making these $69.99 (through January 20th), and they have plenty of sizes available. Such a steal! I kind of need these.

What do you guys think? Are you embracing either of these trends (loafers / glitter)?

I was so excited to see that one of my favorite jewelry designers, Amrita Singh, finally created a solution for the accessory-obsessed-compulsive-organizers out there, such as myself.

Enter the Bangle Tower.

I have so many bangles. I have never found a great way to store them.  Amrita's bangle towers are absolutely perfect for keeping your bracelets organized. Plus, they come in such fabulous colors. I would love to have the six-bangle tower to store away my bracelets in a drawer and be able to find them in a hurry.

Until January 15th, Amrita Singh is offering a 50% off promotion, DOW11, for the bangle towers. If you want one of these bad boys, now's the time.

How do you organize your accessories?

my bestie knows me too well.

When I heard my phone ding after work today, I was happy to see it was a Facebook notification from ES: "I'll be shocked if you don't buy these".

Confession: I don't even want to admit how often I receive a variation of the above sentence via text, e-mail, gchat...basically via any form of communication.

And then... it got even better.

HOW amazing? Beats headphones are great, but not very girly. Enter the fox fur version, courtesy of Oscar de la Renta. Do you die?!

I might need these. Are any of you fur fans like I am?

shopping! per usual.

Tippi Sweater in Blush Stone // Spornette Little Wonder Teasing Brush in Pink

Now that I am getting back into the swing of things, I just wanted to share a couple of recent purchases.  First, J.Crew is offering an extra 25% off final sale items with the code SHOPNOW (valid until tomorrow at midnight).  I always try to take advantage of these promotions from them.  The only bummer is that J.Crew's final sale means no returns, so I make sure I am mainly purchasing things that I know will fit. This time around, I got the Tippi Sweater in blush stone, the Quincy short boots in saddle (I die) and some FACE Stokholm nail polish (in ruby slipper, which I got for $5.25, half price it's usual retail of $10). I am super excited about the boots. They retail for $228 and I got them for $112. Amaze.

I also read about how fabulous Spornette's Little Wonder is, and since I am recently obsessed with putting my hair in a sock bun (which I will post about later), I ordered one for myself and also one for ES. I normally use a teasing comb, but hopefully the brush will create less knots in my hair (or...maybe I'm just teasing it wrong!).

I also have picked up a few things on sale sites recently -- mainly ideeli. I wish all of these sites would adopt a shipping policy like Ruelala's (if you purchase something, you have free shipping for the next 30 days).

I got this really fun faux fur vest on ideeli last week. I have yet to wear it but I cannot wait -- I am normally anti faux fur because I feel like the quality goes down significantly once it's been cleaned a few times and it looks icky. Anyway. I was really pleased with the quality of this vest, because it was only $29 (retail $98).

I also picked up a cool spikey turquoise necklace that I don't have a picture of right now but can post later on. I am a little bummed because it doesn't lay flat well and that is how it appeared on the website, so I might take it apart and remove some of the beads so it lays flat better.

So that is all for now. Except any Bostonites -- you must try Tico. I went there last Friday and loved it! It is mainly tapas but they also have entrees. They also have amazing tacos! I was in heaven.

Also! I just want to say 'hi!' to some of the new readers of lamb loves. So excited that you decided to start reading despite my extremely long blogging vaca. If any of you have a blog, please leave your URL in a comment here. I am offiically back to blogging and would love to start reading some new ones! :)
